2nd Century in the Wraps!

And so the club pulled it off a second time. The 2nd Annual Century in McDonough went down successfully on October 26th. We had 53 riders come out and join in the support for childhood cancer prevention and treatment. It was a cold morning, but attitudes were high with excitement to get out on the road.

Perfect support followed from our member volunteers to others assisting for the first time. The McDonough Police as well as Henry County Police provided traffic control.

I personally rode the 65 miles and thought of my father who passed on earlier to this year to cancer. What a great day it was for all and those that came out to support the event, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

October is Here

So, a new month. Hard to believe in less than three months, we enter 2009. It has been such an interesting year, and likely to continue to change and catch us off guard. An election is around the corner and uncertainty lies ahead. What marvels me is that almost 4 years have come and gone and it seems like 2 weeks in my mind. Well, maybe not that short but time continues to churn away.
Wow. I think of next year and our upcoming move to 1991 Jonesboro Rd in McDonough. Our move and business would not be possible without the show of support from the thousands of clients that have come our way. Weither it be for a bicycle tube, service, fitting, advice or whatever; our business would not exist without all of you. So if you find yourself , somehow at this page, I personally thank you from all that I am for helping us to be part of your lives. I thank my staff for supporting what "Epic" stands for and we will continue to progress and be a work in progress.

The weather has turned so nice. It is now 49 degrees during the evening and mid 70's rule our forecast. This is the absolute best riding weather and I hope you are finding time to get out and ride. I hope this trend in weather stays consistant throughout the remainder of the month and gives us a great day on October 26th when we are slotted for our 2nd Annual Friends Helping Friends Century in McDonough. Fortunately I have had the chance to get out on a few longer rides and I look forward to participating on the ride this year in addition to helping fuel the endeavor and make it a success with all of your support.

What I hope for this fall and winter is a growing population of dedicated cyclist that will continue to train and ride through the darker, colder months. That will lead only to increased strength on the bike and less of a conditioning curve for cyclist to get back on the bike in Spring. I know through the grapevine that certain cyclist on the southside are discussing a winter group to get out perhaps from the Fayetteville area and ride consistently on Saturdays and Sundays with long, steady - distance rides. As I learn more about that possibility, I will always share that with everybody we know that rides. It is time to pull out the arm and leg warmers and start preparing.
